Der Zugang zu dem Werke bleibt, wie dieser und zahlreiche andere, in den letzten Jahren erschienene Interpretations versuche zeigen, schwierig. Ein Ubersetzer hat hochst be schrankte Moglichkeiten, den Einstieg zu erleichtern. FUr manche der von Keynes gebrauchten Termini hat sich bis heute noch kein allgemein akzeptierter, treffender deutschsprachi ger Begriff finden lassen. Wir haben Heinrich Drager davon Uberzeugen konnen, daB eine bloBe NeuUbersetzung kaum sinnvoll gewesen ware. Der Wissen schaftler nimmt ohnehin den Originaltext zur Hand, der Stu dent das Lehrbuch oder ausgewahlte Lesetexte. Durch die Drager-Sti.ftung unterstlitzt, erhielten Christiane FRIEDMANN und Christian JAGGI den Auf trag, die fUr die heu tigen makrookonomischen Debatten wesentlichen Teile der "General conception" auszuwahlen, neu zu Ubersetzen und zu kom mentieren. Diese Arbeit wurde vor langerer Zeit abgeschlos sen und steht der Drager-Stiftung, der wir hiermit erneut fUr die Beihilfe zu einem wissenschaftlich wichtigen Unter nehmen danken mochten, zur weiteren Verwendung zur VerfUgung.
